Trump’s core supporters are evangelicals- Bible-based “Christians”  (I use quotes  because they ignore the fundamental teaching of Jesus- “love your neighbor”).  To them, Trump is a modern-day King Cyrus- the Persian King who, even though he was an unbeliever, allowed the Israelites to return to their homeland and rebuild Jerusalem from their captivity in Babylon, 2500 years ago.

(Actually, King Cyrus, unlike Trump, was a tolerant and just man, who did what was right for its own sake, not for personal gain.)

A movie called “The Trump Prophecy” has spread the belief that Trump is Cyrus throughout evangelical churches, and into AMC theaters.  Netanyahu enthusiastically embraced Trump as King Cyrus when he moved the US embassy to Jerusalem.

Recently, Trump has taken all this a step further.  On 8/20/19, he retweeted a follower who wrote “the Jews of Israel love Trump like the King of Israel and the Second Coming of God.  The next day, he looked up to heaven and called himself “the Chosen One”, although later he said it was a joke.

Ominously, several members of the White House weekly Bible study group openly profess belief in “the Rapture”, including Vice President Pence and Secretary of State Pompeo.  This heretical interpretation of Biblical prophecy https://preachersinstitute.com/2010/04/20/the-rapture-indisputable-christian-heresy/ , popularized by the “Left Behind” series, maintains that God intends to destroy Planet Earth and “rapture up” true believers.

The impeachment hearings are revealing to the whole world how much Trump is a man who considers himself above the law.  This person is described in Thessalonians 2 Chapter 2, as are his followers.

⁴ He  (the man of lawlessness)  will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

⁹ The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. A look at the states that have supported Trump shows that the people there are losing health care benefits, falling behind in education and income.  They are starting to realize it, and voted against Trump supporters, in Kentucky, Virginia and Louisiana.
