The new Republican majority of deficit hawks, while short on details to grow the economy, have put everything in the budget on the table to cut and slash except of course, defense and what they determine to be mandatory spending. While we were discussing holiday travel, turkey pardons, airline pat downs and Black Friday predictions, the rest of the world was on alert as the North Koreans were busy launching a deadly attack on South Korea.

The House of Representatives left Washington to enjoy their holiday after failing to work out their disagreements on how and whether they should even extend unemployment benefits to millions of unemployed Americans. Our disconnect with reality is destined to lead us to more gridlock, government shutdowns and possible elimination of many of the programs and benefits that we rely on and desperately need in these difficult times if we fail to focus and make our concerns known.
