Rick Perry to Finally Call it Quits in Texas

As many of you know, I am not and never been a fan of ole “Slick Rick”. I’ve got to tell you it’s nice to know that in 18 months or so, he’ll be gone. Praise to the unseen forces of the universe that he is not running for re-election.

But where does Texas go from here? I’ll tell you where, onward through the fog towards progress! While some people (like Will Weissert of the Associated Press), consider Perry to be the most powerful Texas governor since the Reconstruction, the majority of America and Texas does not. This was his actual quote taken from an AP article published today:

?“Gov. Rick Perry was a champion of fiercely conservative social activism long before the tea party was born. He oversaw the "Texas Miracle" job-creation boom and became the state's most powerful governor since Reconstruction.” – Will Weissert

He may be right, but only in the context of how long he was in office. Here are some actual facts about the great Rick Perry as a result of him being governor of Texas:

? The poverty rate for Texas is 16.5%. The only other state that has higher poverty rate is Mississippi (20.1%). This fact alone makes Texas distinct; it clearly has the highest poverty rate of any large industrial state.

? Texas ranked 16th in the nation with a 6.5% unemployment rate (source: Bureau of Labor and Statistics), while it’s not bad, Texas is not first or even second in job-creation as Perry claims.

? Critics also note Texas has a disproportionate percentage of hourly workers earning minimum wage or even less, according to federal employment data.

? Perry opposes expanding Medicaid coverage in Texas, even though Texas has the highest rate of uninsured residents in the country.

? Perry also credits the state's relaxed regulatory climate and limits on civil lawsuits for job creation, though some have pointed to the consequences of little oversight (West, Texas).

The statistics shown are just a few of many that show how disconnected he is. The people have spoken against him many times, much like the recent abortion filibuster. And you can bet we will be letting our voices be heard even louder as his governorship comes to an end. His actions as governor will continue to unfold, and he will be known as the laziest “do-nothing” governor in modern times.

I spend a lot of time at the Capitol (when I’m not at my regular job), and the general consensus with Texas constituents is that he is at the mercy of his handlers. He does what his staff tells him to do, and is nothing more than a puppet for the extreme right. This comes from many state legislators as well as the people of Texas. Most of America despises this crook. Think about this for a minute, George (Dubya) Bush endorsed Romney early on in the last primaries. Not Rick Perry, who helped him get into office at the state and federal level.

They actually despise each other now, which is a far cry from when they were originally running for the highest offices in the state.
Remember the “n-word ranch” of his? Well more of these types of character flaws will continue to come to light. He has angered so many in the State of Texas that most people and elected officials in the state are gunning for him. Perry has very little good reputation left (if any), and the little he might have is with Tea Partiers.

He fought the people on school finance reform for the state, only to eventually give in to the people. This is what happens when the people speak out in numbers, they scare him into submission like any other politician. As his career as governor comes to an end, expect the people to get louder. He thinks the people will back off knowing he is not running for re-election, however the opposite is true. He will get run out of office until the bitter end.

A new chapter is upon us. And with information flowing to the public unfettered, more people are waking up. Perry is a great example of the power of the people. When the people speak out, especially in bigger numbers, politicians get scared. If any elected officials are reading this, be warned. If you are a corrupt politician, who doesn’t represent your constituents, the people will be coming for you next.

All of your immoral, ignorant, political tactics will end. The people will expose you for what you are. The sleeping giant is waking up, and it’s coming for you!

So in conclusion, is Perry the most powerful Texas governor in recent history? Absolutely not. In fact, he’s quite the opposite. Much like all other elected officials, they think they are “all-powerful”. But in the end, they have to wipe their proverbial asses like the rest of us!
