Every New Year’s Eve, I breathe a sigh of relief when the clock strikes twelve ringing in the New Year. Exhaling with gratitude, the leap into a New Year is definitely a blessing considering the alternative. So if you’re reading this - Happy New Year!
Depending on whom you ask, 2011 was a turbulent year, to say the least. I believe 99% of us would agree and stand ready to start anew. Keeping with ritual, many of us will make New Year’s resolutions vowing to lose weight, quit smoking, find a job, and get out of debt. Whatever the goal, change is seldom easy, especially when it comes to self improvement. Personally, I am enthusiastic and anxious to get started with shedding several pounds. If Jennifer Hudson can do it, I can too. She inspires me every time I see her strut her new look. But it’s going to take more than a feel good moment to keep me eating right and working out regularly. I like the old adage, “birds of a feather flock together.” Connecting with like minded individuals that work out and eat rabbit food, works better for me. Whatever your New Year’s resolutions are, have a plan. Without one, the resolution will likely be short lived and a resolution once again in 2013.
There is an old cliché that I often say to young people as they embark upon life and their endeavors, “the sky is the limit.” I further encourage them to – “grab as many stars as they can. It’s a new year and this expression is fitting for “All” ages. So, in 2012 “the sky IS the limit. Despite all of the turmoil in and around the world, always aim high. Remember turmoil is nothing new. It’s a part of life. So, grab as many stars as you can in 2012 then let them illuminate the path for others.
