On New Year's Day I finally gave up on our President.

Today I wrote to the Democratic National Committee and asked who they propose to name as the Democratic candidate for President in 2012, since it seems unlikely to me that Barack Obama will be relected.

However, since the DNC probably is comprised mostly of millionaires, just as the Congress is, I don't imagine that they will be interested in my question. Their lives will go on without change no matter who is elected.

At this juncture, as I see it, our two most critical problems are the protection of our Constitution and, by extension, our faithful adherence to it, and the preservation of our planet home.

In order to assure ourselves of Constitutional government -- of government by laws and not by favoritism -- we must select candidates whom we can TRUST. In order to have a place to LIVE under our Constitution, we can lose no more time in reducing the damage we are inflicting on the global environment, then begnning to repair the damage we already have inflicted.

So, I bethought myself of one current serving or former elected official after another, but only two came to mind whom I thought had the sort of moralintegrity that we could trust and the mental capability and experience to accomlish the work that needs to be done.

Here is the letter I sent to each of them tonight:

Dear Senator Bernard Sanders and Representative Dennis Kucinich,

Please get together and campaign for election to the White House -- either of you would make a fine President or Vice President.

I cannot vote for a Republican, because I think the Republican Party is determined to reduce the country to a feudalistic -- or a fascistic -- state.

Nor will I support either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. Mr. Obama has proven to be a failure as a leader and as an executive officer, and instead has been a compromiser -- a tragedy for our nation, since he has faced the most uncompromising Republican party in the history of our government. And Mrs. Clinton has no experience at governing anything.

You are the only two elected officials in the country whose integrity, honor, and courage never have been questioned. Both of you have sound ideas about and solid records of governing according to the Constitution. Both of you believe in acting for the greatest good of the majority, while inflicting the least possible harm on the minority -- which I thought was the American way to govern.

If you will run, I will work tirelessly for your election, and devote to it every penny I can spare and legally contribute.

I grew up as an Army brat, served my country for nine years in the Navy, and am married to a Navy retiree. It is breaking my heart to watch the Constitution being slowly nibbled away, and the environment -- the health of our planet home -- becoming more and more degraded each day.

Please help us get back to being the country I thought my Dad and my husband and I served fifty-three years to preserve, protect, and defend.
