STUPIDITY TAX

STUPIDITY TAX

Since lowering taxes, especially on the wealthy, has left most governments with a shortage of money, I thought of a good idea to solve this problem—a stupidity tax. Whether or not this would serve as a deterrent to stupidity would remain to be seen, however, there could be no doubt, considering the amount of stupidity in the world, that this would be a way of solving our financial crises. After all, a little stupidity repeated millions and billions of times goes a long way.

Now, the bleeding-heart Liberals would immediately make accusations of profiling and discriminating against stupid people. But as we all know, very intelligent people also say stupid things, sometimes accidentally, although mostly on purpose, and when they do, stupid people give them lots of money. The problem of stupid people being discriminated against could easily be solved by having a sliding-scale of taxation. For example, those who are lacking in wisdom and/or poor in knowledge would have to pay a much lower tax than those who know better. Those who make lots of money saying or doing stupid things would pay a much higher tax. Famous people and politicians who lots of people look up to would also pay a higher stupidity tax. How could those stupid Liberals complain about that?

Of course, you could get out of paying taxes legally by not doing or saying stupid things, though most people would not qualify for this. Those who say things so stupid that no one believes them would also be tax-exempt. This could incentivize people, for instance, to think about what they are going to say before saying it or think about whether the thing they want to do is something they would really want to do, much less be able to afford. Perhaps we could also give tax breaks to people who say or do things that aren’t stupid, like an Earned-Intelligence Credit.
